Are you looking for a remarkable evening to spend your last days in Maui?
Trust Quicksilver, because they know what they’re doing. They have been providing one of a kind experience for thousands of tourists and residents alike with their Sunset Dinner Cruise for over 20 years now. Quicksilver is a stable and modern catamaran that sails for 2 hours from the Lahaina Harbor, cruising across the calm waters of Maui’s West Coast where you could see the beautiful sunset, with the West Maui mountains in the background.
Serving Pacific Rim cuisine with authentic aroma and spices, you’ll walk out of the boat with a full stomach and a heart. Why not? With comfortable seats in an open-air deck listening to live music while drinking refreshing beverages, and not to mention the attentive and polite crew, you can’t ask for more! Plus, everybody is invited – even your infants. So, reserve your slots now because it sells too fast and then come aboard!
Quicksilver Sunset Dinner Cruise: Your Itinerary
There are several parking lots in Lahaina that are convenient to the boat. We recommend one located on Luakini Street, which is free. Maybe you can try the one near the Baldwin Museum at the Dickenson Street or the other one that’s fronting Paia Fish Market at the Front Street (both with parking fee) if the first area is full. Get to Wharf Street to check-in 30 minutes before the departure time, which is at 4:30 pm (October – March) or 5 pm (April – September). There is no dress code for this trip, so wear anything decent that is comfortable. For additional information, this cruise is available on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
As soon as you board, find a comfortable seat. You can choose the indoor or outdoor seating both in the lower and upper deck. Quicksilver’s lower deck has glass windows that are designed for your safety and clear viewing. There are also two restrooms, which are in the lower cabin. When everybody’s on board, a talented musician plays in the background with his guitar. To suit the atmosphere, he will serenade you with Hawaiian music – old and new.
As the vessel sails, the attentive and friendly crew serves your drinks (two are free) right where you are, so you can concentrate on watching the beautiful sceneries in front of you. By this time, the sunset is at its brightest colors – a shade of orange and red that illuminates a beautiful reflection on the water below. We strongly recommend capturing this post-card like sight because you can’t find it anywhere. Also, watch out for whales. They love head breeching, especially during the whale season from May to October.
Floating Restaurant
The set up for dinner is comparable to a restaurant: comfortable seats, accommodating service crews, and spacious tables. But dining aboard a sailing vessel with spectacular views on sight and a unique light from the sunset, it’s a different story.
When dinner’s ready, it’s time to have a bite of those mouthwatering Asian fusion cuisine, including pan-seared island fish, lobster (cooked on board), and vegetable medley. All the foods are gluten-free except the Caesar salad, so if you’re following a gluten-free diet, you can skip this. Maybe go for the salad with oil and vinegar dressing. Finish your dinner with a delicious chocolate cake for dessert. If you already consumed your complimentary beverage, you can order again from the bar. Their bartender makes the best mai tai and pina colada, plus beer and wine made available for you.
After Dinner Activities
With your favorite cocktail on hand, it’s best to stay outside the cabin. While the open-air upper deck provides you with 360-degree views, the outdoor bow is equally a perfect spot to hang around. With its comfortable seats with cushion, it’s a romantic area to enjoy the moment with your loved ones. You can take your pictures with a magnificent background.
If you haven’t spotted marine mammals earlier, you can try your luck this time. Humpback whales usually migrate from the Antarctic waters in winter to warmer waters. If you took this cruise from June – September, then you might see one or two or even ten. As early as April, smaller Minke whales can be seen but most commonly from June to July.
