Kiting Lessons for Kids: The kids program is designed to be fun and teach the kids of different ages the appropriate kite flying skills for their level. Kids aged from 5-9 years: Younger kids will focus more on basic kite flying skills primarily on land. Kids will learn about the wind, kite control, safety systems, and proper kite etiquette, then they may do some tandem body-drags with the instructor. Our instructors have specialty training to prepare them for our kids program. For Kids 9-12 years Old: Kids lessons are shorter than adult lessons, usually lasting between one and two hours. Siblings, friends and families can learn together as a fun group activity. Kids start with land flying, ground school and progress to tandem body-drags then may do solo runs when they are ready. Kids will be trying the board if they have mastered the prerequisite skills or on about their third session. Kids will also do better if older family members are also involved in the sport, as they will need active support to participate in kiteboarding.
(Kids will not be independent until they get more experience [e.g. 15-20 hrs] and should be actively supported and supervised until they reach about min. age 12).
Kite Lessons: Kiting lessons are the best way to prepare you for Kiteboarding. Your instructor will show you all of the necessary steps, in a fun and safe environment. Lessons are tailored to each individual student so they are never too basic or too advanced. The student determines the pace of the lesson according to their abilities. We have been teaching kiteboarding for 20 years and you are in good hands. Try a single lesson for a taste of the sport, and you can always upgrade to a longer course at any time. We also have an International School network of sister schools (IKO School Network. in 40 countries) so you can pick up where you left off and add to your skills wherever you go.
Our Instructor Team: Our team includes Maui’s best IKO Certified Kiteboarding Instructors and trainers who utilize the safest teaching procedures, and the industry’s most respected Training System. Each Action Sports Instructor also receives ongoing training to help them reach and maintain the highest standards. Our “Teaching Kiteboarding to Kids” Course is recognized by the IKO (International Kiteboarding Organization) and is taught in selected schools by specially trained Kiteboarding instructors. We offer all our private and group lessons with our regular certified instructors, and any course can be upgraded to a Senior instructor.
