Experience the flavors of Hawaii in one evening. You’ll get to feast on delicious food from around the world while enjoying some excellent entertainment that is sure to keep you entertained all night long. The Island Breeze Lū‘au on the shores of Kamakahonu Bay and Ahu’ena – Kamehameha the Great’s former estate in Kailua-Kona has been named “Best of West Hawai’i” since 2000.

The Luau

When you come to this event, the first thing that will greet your eyes is a warm welcome. This will be followed by an energetic hula performance and storytelling where each member of our Royal Court tells their story in vivid detail through mo’olelo; stories about themselves or others they met on their journey as members of Hawaii’s royal family. An open bar, an intimate venue and a setting sun. All of these things may sound like the perfect ingredients for a romantic evening but when they’re combined with fresh Hawaiian produce including kalua pork, chicken and island fish–and local favorites such as macadamia nuts or banana bread pudding that’s prepared in front of you by well-dressed servers who look more at ease on flip flops than heels (a trend we fully support)–you might just find yourself feeling unprepared. If this is your first time visiting Hawaii then make sure to set aside some extra room because it will be hard not to indulge in all its culinary delights!

Enjoy the sights and sounds of centuries-old Hawaiian culture of Island Breeze Lū’au is held in the historic grounds of King Kamehameha’s Courtyard Marriott hotel, under a starry night sky. The hotel is situated near the pier in Kailua Bay, located on Palani Road. Guests are within walking distance of many restaurants, shops and historical sites like Hulihe’e Palace and Mokuaikaua Church. You can easily explore the lū’au without missing a beat by staying at one of Kohala Coast Resort’s many resorts or Sheraton Kona Resort & Spa.

The Show

The Island Breeze Lū’au on the Big Island of Hawaii is a spectacle that fully embodies its namesake into every facet. From food and show to venue, it’s all about Hawaii with an authentic ‘Aloha spirit’.

The sound of ukulele music fills your ears as you walk through the Courtyard Marriott King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel in search of The Island Breeze Luau on the big island of Hawaii. You’re greeted by welcoming smiles from locals who are eager to share their culture with you – so much so they’ve made this luʻa one part event space, two parts cultural experience.

The Royal Court of King Kamehameha I made their way to the stage and were greeted by a court conch herald who welcomed them with an authentic chant. The grounds are intricately designed as if you’re discovering ancient Hawaiian culture for yourself, making this lū’au quite royal indeed!

Hawai’i is a special place that values its family. The word “ohana” means offshoots, meaning the new shoots on taro plants and because Hawaiians are all connected by their common root through stories and cultural practices passed down within families. Today we can honor our ‘Ohana in order to preserve it for future generations while also sharing its beauty with others who want to learn about this unique culture!
