A hidden gem at an affordable price, Dunes at Maui Lani is a must-try if you are in Maui.

Did you know that it is the only golf course in Hawaii that is built on naturally occurring dune terrain?

While the Dunes was being built, there was minimal earth moving that occurred. The great golf architect Robin Nelson utilized this to the course’s advantage and made it as an inspiration, which turned out really great. So, when you get here, you will be amazed by the course’s perfect blend of the old and new atmosphere.

Whether you are a beginner or a pro, you will find the Dunes challenging from different perspectives. Your opening hole number one is an excellent reward while par-4 hole number 2 welcomes you with a well-maintained wide fairway and a straight shot to the green. Avoid the bunkers to the right, though, as well as the grass swales and rough to the left and ravine to the right.

We can be sure the real challenge starts at hole number 5, where laying up could lead to a blind second shot with a mid to long iron or hybrid. Remember to use more clubs to carry the false front on this course’s undulated and elevated green.

For buying signatured golf wear or perhaps a last minute accessories pick-up like golf balls or gloves, head over to their clubhouse where you can find their Pro Shop with friendly and helpful staff. It is also where you can find gift cards and memberships.

When it comes to dining, Cafe O’Lei is one of the reasons you should come play golf here for their wide range of food selections and beverages. Plus, the breathtaking view from here of the Maui mountains is incomparable. If you have gluten-free requests, their professional staff will be happy to make them for you. Their lettuce wraps appetizer and seasoned chicken with crispy lettuce are a must-try for healthy options. Also, never miss their fish and chips that are truly worth sharing.
