Hawaii’s Kilauea Volcano is one of the most active volcanoes in the world. It has erupted with a frequency unseen for over 200 years and destroyed many homes on Hawaii Island in recent years. The USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory (HVO) monitors this volcano 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide real-time information about volcanic activity and ground deformation through web cameras, continuous streams of seismic data from seismometers near the volcano’s surface, air quality measurements every hour from observatory instruments on Mauna Loa and Hualalai mountains.
