Plan for approximately 5–6 hours of guided exploration inside Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park. Because this tour involves walking and time on the trails, it’s ideal for guests staying on the east side of the island.

With your own National Park–Certified Interpretive Guide, you’ll spend the day learning how the island was formed, how ongoing eruptions continue to shape it, and how rare native species have adapted to this unique environment. What to bring:
Wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes suitable for walking on uneven ground. For time spent at higher elevations and exposed viewpoints, a light jacket or windbreaker is recommended, as conditions can be cool, windy, or damp.

You’ll be accompanied by a National Park–Certified Interpretive Guide who leads the experience and shares in-depth knowledge of the area. Essentials such as sunscreen, bug repellent, hand sanitizer, and wipes are supplied, along with bottled water and light snacks like trail mix, chips, and granola bars. Four trekking poles are available to assist on walks, and binoculars are provided for viewing distant features and wildlife. Private transportation, ponchos, and umbrellas help keep you comfortable in changing weather, and complimentary photos of you and your family or group are included so you can fully enjoy the moment without worrying about capturing every shot.

Important note about park fees:
Entrance fees to Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park are not included in the tour price. You will need to purchase your own park pass upon arrival or use an existing National Park Pass for entry.

  • Yes, we include a gourmet lunch featuring local Hawaiian ingredients and provide water and light snacks throughout the day. You’re welcome to bring additional personal snacks and beverages as desired.

  • We operate in most weather conditions, as volcanic formations are spectacular in various conditions. However, severe weather or volcanic hazards may require itinerary modifications. We’ll communicate any changes and provide alternative experiences when necessary.

  • While we follow a comprehensive standard itinerary, we can accommodate specific interests and adjust timing for photography, research, or special occasions. Private groups have more flexibility for customization than regular scheduled tours.
