Enjoy a private tour of the world’s most active volcano:
Spend the day immersed in the powerful landscapes of Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park on a fully private experience tailored for true National Park enthusiasts. This guided outing focuses on the dramatic geology, rich ecology, and cultural significance of Kīlauea and its surroundings, giving you the time and space to explore one of the Big Island’s most iconic destinations at your own pace.
Duration:
Plan for approximately 5–6 hours of guided exploration inside Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park. Because this tour involves walking and time on the trails, it’s ideal for guests staying on the east side of the island.
About the experience:
This private tour is designed for visitors who want more than a quick photo stop. With your own National Park–Certified Interpretive Guide, you’ll spend the day learning how the island was formed, how ongoing eruptions continue to shape it, and how rare native species have adapted to this unique environment. The park is both a UNESCO World Heritage Site and consistently ranked among the top national parks in the United States, and this tour highlights its must-see locations. Depending on conditions, you may visit Kīlauea Volcano overlooks, Halemaʻumaʻu Crater viewpoints, steam vents, Kīlauea Iki Crater, and additional stops that showcase the park’s diverse and ever-changing terrain.
What to bring:
Wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes suitable for walking on uneven ground. For time spent at higher elevations and exposed viewpoints, a light jacket or windbreaker is recommended, as conditions can be cool, windy, or damp.
What’s provided:
You’ll be accompanied by a National Park–Certified Interpretive Guide who leads the experience and shares in-depth knowledge of the area. Essentials such as sunscreen, bug repellent, hand sanitizer, and wipes are supplied, along with bottled water and light snacks like trail mix, chips, and granola bars. Four trekking poles are available to assist on walks, and binoculars are provided for viewing distant features and wildlife. Private transportation, ponchos, and umbrellas help keep you comfortable in changing weather, and complimentary photos of you and your family or group are included so you can fully enjoy the moment without worrying about capturing every shot.
Important note about park fees:
Entrance fees to Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park are not included in the tour price. You will need to purchase your own park pass upon arrival or use an existing National Park Pass for entry.
