Stand Up Paddleboard Group Lesson Information

  • SUP is very beginner-friendly! Most people can stand and paddle within their first lesson. Our group instruction focuses on building confidence gradually, starting with kneeling paddling before progressing to standing. The calm Waikiki waters provide perfect learning conditions.

  • Group lessons cover SUP fundamentals including proper paddling technique, board positioning, how to get on and off the board, balance tips, basic turns, and safety procedures. Instruction progresses from kneeling to standing paddling as participants build confidence.

  • SUP group lessons typically have 6-8 participants maximum to ensure quality instruction and safety. This size allows instructors to provide adequate attention to each student while maintaining the fun social learning atmosphere.

  • Basic swimming ability is required for safety, but you don’t need to be a strong swimmer. SUP is done in calm, shallow waters where you can stand up if needed. Life jackets are available for additional safety and peace of mind.

  • Wear comfortable swimwear, bring reef-safe sunscreen, a hat, and a water bottle. We provide all SUP equipment including boards, paddles, and safety gear. Consider bringing a waterproof phone case if you want to take photos during the lesson.
