Overview
Charter options: 5-hour or 8–9-hour trips
Location: Haleiwa Harbor, Oahu North Shore

Activity Details
Go Fishing Hawaii runs private fishing charters from Haleiwa on Oahu’s legendary North Shore. Most visitors know this coastline for surf and winter swells, but anglers know it for something else: productive offshore waters close to shore. That short run to the fishing grounds means you spend less time commuting and more time with lines in the water—often making the trip a stronger value than charters that require long travel time.

This is more than “just a boat ride.” You’ll fish with a local crew that knows these waters and keeps the vibe fun—music, laughs, and real instruction if you want it. New to offshore fishing? You’ll get guidance. Been doing this for years? The captains will help you chase the bite and stay on top of conditions.

Wildlife sightings are a bonus on many trips. Dolphins show up regularly, and humpback whales are commonly seen in winter during Hawaii’s whale season (typically December through early May).

Itinerary

Half-Day Charter
5 hours total. Within that window, the boat can travel up to about 30 miles round trip and reach deep-water areas down to roughly 6,000 feet.

Full-Day Charter
8–9 hours total. With extra time, you can cover up to about 60 miles round trip and explore deeper zones reaching roughly 10,000 feet. This option is often the most productive because you can adjust the plan, move farther, and keep searching if the fish shift.

Highlights

Fish species you may target
Mahimahi (dolphinfish) — Bright, fast, and acrobatic. A favorite for anglers who want action and a great fish for the table.
Marlin — The bucket-list catch. Powerful runs, big energy, and the kind of fight people talk about for years.
Yellowfin tuna (ahi) — A Hawaii classic. Strong, fast, and highly prized for fresh poke, sashimi, or seared tuna.
Wahoo (ono) — Built for speed with explosive strikes. Highly respected as a game fish and well-known for its clean, firm meat.
