Diamond Head Hiking Information

  • The hike is considered moderate with some steep sections and stairs. Most people in reasonable physical condition can complete it, but it does require some effort and proper footwear.

  • The complete tour typically takes 2 hours including transportation, the hike up and down, and time at the summit to enjoy views and take photos.

  • Bring water, sunscreen, hat, comfortable hiking shoes, and a camera. We recommend starting early to avoid crowds and heat.

  • Early morning (sunrise) tours offer the best lighting for photos, cooler temperatures, and fewer crowds. Sunset tours provide dramatic evening views but can be more crowded.

  • Children who are used to hiking and in good physical condition can complete the hike. We recommend ages 8 and up, and parents should assess their child’s hiking ability beforehand.
