Embark on a self-guided adventure to Mokoli’i (Chinaman’s Hat) for a day of kayaking and breathtaking views. In this 4-hour experience, you’ll have the freedom to go at your own pace and explore the beautiful surroundings.

Please park in one of our designated bays, and our friendly staff will assist you in strapping the kayak onto your vehicle and provide you with all necessary equipment. After a brief demo and safety talk, you’ll head out to Kualoa Regional Park, about a 30-minute drive away. Feel free to ask our local staff any questions before you set out on your self-guided kayaking adventure.

The paddle to Mokoli’i is typically calm, with a gentle breeze pushing you toward the shore. The best conditions are in the morning. While this is suitable for beginners, we recommend having some prior kayaking experience or being an experienced paddler.

Your Adventure

This experience offers a real Oahu adventure. You’ll paddle across the ocean, over a sunken lava plain, and past a barrier reef, making your way to the Basalt Islet of Mokoli’i. Once there, you can either snorkel at the base of the islet or hike to the top for a panoramic view of the east side of Oahu. The hike is a thrilling climb with a technical section towards the top, offering an exciting challenge and stunning views.
