Embark on an unforgettable adventure aboard the stunning 50-foot sailing catamaran, Leila, and experience authentic trade wind sailing on Kauai. This vessel is known for its speed, and it’s not unusual to reach up to 18 knots (about 20 mph) as you glide through the waters.

Napali, meaning “the cliffs,” truly lives up to its name. As you sail along the world-famous coastline, you’ll be awestruck by the towering 3,500-foot cliffs, lush valleys, sparkling waterfalls, and secluded beaches. Your crew will share fascinating tales of the Hawaiian people who once called this land home. The Napali Coast is best appreciated from the water, offering a unique perspective you won’t soon forget.

To complete your journey, your captain will anchor the boat, giving you the opportunity to snorkel in crystal-clear waters. (The snorkeling spot may vary depending on the day’s weather conditions.)

We provide all the necessary snorkeling gear—including flotation devices—and offer professional guidance to ensure you have an enjoyable and safe underwater experience.

Sailing and Snorkeling Tour - Na Pali Coast Questions

  • We maximize sailing time using Kauai’s reliable trade winds, though we may use engine assistance when wind conditions are light or for safety reasons. Our goal is to provide an authentic sailing experience while ensuring passenger comfort and safety.

  • Typically 2-3 snorkeling stops depending on conditions and wildlife activity. Each location offers different underwater experiences, from shallow coral gardens to deeper reef systems with diverse marine life including turtles, tropical fish, and seasonal dolphins.

  • Sailing generally provides a smoother, more natural motion than powerboat tours. The steady sailing motion and fresh ocean air often help reduce seasickness. We recommend taking natural seasickness remedies if you’re prone to motion sensitivity.

  • Common sightings include Hawaiian green sea turtles, parrotfish, angelfish, wrasse, moorish idols, and various tropical reef fish. Seasonal wildlife includes spinner dolphins and humpback whales (winter months). Our crew helps identify marine life and shares fascinating facts about Hawaiian marine ecosystems.

  • Kauai typically has reliable trade winds, but if conditions are calm, we’ll use engine power to ensure you still enjoy the full Na Pali Coast experience and snorkeling stops. The tour’s focus on marine exploration remains unchanged regardless of wind conditions.
