About the Lesson
Our surf lessons take place on the calm, beautiful beaches and waters off Kalama Park, also known as ‘The Cove’, in Kihei, Maui. This spot is ideal for learning to surf, thanks to its semi-shallow water and gentle wave breaks, with an average year-round water temperature of 79°. Whether you’re a first-time surfer or looking to refine your skills, this is the best place to surf on Maui—and perhaps even in the world!
We are fully permitted by the Maui County Parks Department, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. Our lessons last for 2 hours and include everything you need to ride the waves. We also have a professional photographer to capture your new surfing skills. Photo packages are available for purchase at an affordable price.
Our instructors are dedicated to helping you learn proper surfing techniques, including the key skill of popping up directly to your feet (we do not teach the knee-slide pop-up). Our team is passionate about teaching, and we guarantee that you will surf during your first lesson, regardless of your age or athletic ability!

Advance reservations required, as our classes fill up quickly.
Why Early Morning Classes?
Hawaii experiences strong trade winds in the afternoon, which can limit our surf time. Mornings offer the best conditions: clean sets and beautiful skies for an optimal surfing experience!
Private & Semi-Private Lessons
Private and semi-private lessons are available for those seeking a more personalized experience.
Additional Info
Age Requirement: We don’t have a specific minimum age, but if your child is 8 or under, we highly recommend they take the lesson with a parent. Surfing together as a family is an unforgettable experience and a highlight of your Maui visit!
CPR & First Aid Certified: All our professional instructors are fully certified, ensuring a safe and fun learning environment.
