When you arrive to pick up your bike, we’ll fit you with all necessary gear and provide a brief orientation on how to operate your e-bike. Our friendly, experienced staff will also share useful local information to help you explore Maui’s scenic spots.

What to Wear and Bring
To ensure a comfortable ride, please bring:
- Lightweight clothing suitable for biking
- Closed-toe shoes for safe riding

What is E-Bike Rescue and What Does it Cover?
Bike Rescue is an optional add-on insurance to protect you in case of issues during your ride. For just $10, the coverage includes:
- Flat tires
- Electronic failures
Within a 7.5-mile radius of West Maui.
Please note that if you travel outside the West Maui boundaries—north of Honolua Bay or south of Olowalu—you will incur additional fees for rescue services. Flat tires caused by the Kiawe thorns are common in Maui, and having a bike brought to you is well worth the small investment. If your bike runs out of battery outside the coverage area, Bike Rescue won’t apply, so we highly recommend using energy-saving tips.
How Long Will the Battery Last?
The battery life depends on several factors, including the type of bike and terrain:
- Non-premium e-bikes: 12–30 miles on a single charge.
- Premium e-bikes: 30–60 miles.
To maximize battery life, use the bike’s gear system efficiently and apply a lower level of pedal assist, especially when riding uphill. If the battery runs out, you can still pedal the bike like a regular one! For multi-day rentals, we recommend charging the bike overnight. You’ll receive guidance on removing and charging the battery during your orientation.
Tips for the Best Ride
We’ll send you helpful resources, including route ideas, e-bike tips, and a pre-programmed route app to ensure you get the most out of your experience. Early reservations are recommended to guarantee availability.
On your rental day, be sure to:
- Pay attention during the e-bike orientation.
- Learn energy-saving techniques for the battery.
- Familiarize yourself with local road rules.
- Always wear your helmet.
- Lock the bike when not in use.
For Beginner Riders
If you’re new to e-bikes, we suggest:
- Taking a test ride before your rental to ensure you can balance, mount, dismount, and turn safely with or without pedal assist.
- If you’re unsure after the test ride, you can cancel within 24 hours or opt for a tandem bike with an experienced rider.
- Consider renting an e-bike for a 2-hour practice session before your group ride.
