About Manta Rays
Despite their close relatives being some of the ocean’s most predatory fish, manta rays are gentle giants. They have no teeth or barbs and are completely harmless. Remarkably, manta rays do not have a single bone in their body!
Because they are made mostly of cartilage and muscle, manta rays are incredibly strong and heavy. They can grow up to 16 feet (5 meters) across and weigh as much as 1,600 pounds (726 kilograms). Even the smaller ones range from 6 feet (1.5 meters) and 600 pounds (272 kilograms).
What’s Included:
Snorkel and mask
Wetsuit (optional)
Non-alcoholic beverages
What’s Not Included:
Towel
Warm sweater or cover-up (it can get chilly when exiting the water at night, even in Hawaii)
Itinerary:
Once we arrive at the manta ray site, your swim guide will provide a briefing on the snorkel experience. We’ll set up a light board in the water for you to hold onto while snorkeling. The light attracts plankton, which in turn attracts the manta rays. As they swoop in to feed, they may come within inches of your face—a truly magical moment.
You’ll get to enjoy the manta ray ballet for up to 40 minutes, watching as the rays enjoy their plankton buffet.
After the Manta Magic experience, the Pueo Kai boat will head back to the harbor under the light of the stars and the moon. Keep an eye on the sky, as you may catch a glimpse of the Milky Way on a clear night.
