Embark on an unforgettable journey through the eerie and mysterious Kailua-Kona after nightfall. Join a knowledgeable local guide as you explore spine-chilling tales of the supernatural and uncover real historical events that continue to haunt this fascinating town.
Meet your guide and begin your walking tour along the historic Ali’i Drive, where your adventure starts with a protective prayer and a brief introduction to Kona’s rich history filled with legends and mysteries. From there, visit several key spots believed to be haunted, including the site of ancient human sacrifices and the path said to be walked by the ghostly Night Marchers—armed with torches and a chilling presence.
Along the way, you’ll pass by the former royal palace of Hawaii’s monarchs, visit the first Christian church in the islands, and wander through two historic cemeteries. Hear fascinating stories about the old Kona Inn, constructed on the grounds of an ancient temple, where over 40 totem-style ki’i statues once stood. At each stop, you’ll have the opportunity to use paranormal detection equipment, testing your own skills in seeking out paranormal activity. The tour concludes with a cleansing white sage smudge to ensure a peaceful finish.
